Repair Head Gasket in Stoke-On-Trent

Repair A Head Gasket And Other Engine Components

In the event of a head gasket failure, you should be careful to look for other signs of damage to the engine block. Overheating caused by head gasket failure can crack or warp the engine block. This can cause further damage to the engine.

There are three stages to assess whether you can repair a cast iron break or crack:

1) Can the break or crack be repaired?

Generally speaking, a small break or crack can be repaired. Larger breaks and cracks may need specialist preparation, metal filling or extra work to complete a repair. Before any work is undertaken on the part, it is best to take a digital photograph of the break or crack and send it to a specialist repair company for analysis.

They will be able to advise on the type of repair to be undertaken and the fees involved.

2) Is the break or crack accessible?

If the engine block can be removed then this makes the repair process much easier. Removing the engine block should be done carefully and in a way that retains all other fixtures and fittings (brackets, nuts, bolts etc).

If the part cannot be removed, then there needs to be consideration into how much space surrounds the part as to whether an in situ repair could be undertaken. In situ repairs are possible on larger engines, but can be very difficult to perform on smaller engines.

3) Is it economical to repair the part?

Budget is always an issue when deciding whether a part can be repaired. If the part is easy to remove and readily available as a new part, it could be cheaper to fit a new part.

Stoke-On-Trent is a city in Staffordshire which was originally formed by the federation of six separate towns and numerous villages in the early 20th century and is considered to be the home of the pottery industry in England.

The presence of abundant supplies of coal and suitable clay, together with the construction of the Trent and Mersey Canal enabled world renowned names such as Royal Doulton, Spode, Wedgwood and Minton to be founded.

Formerly an industrial conurbation it is now a centre for service industries and distribution centres due to its excellent location halfway between Birmingham and Manchester.

Trentham Gardens £100 million refurbishment was completed in 2005, whilst 10 miles east lies Alton Towers Theme Park, one of the United Kingdoms best known attractions.

To the east is the Peak District National Park, which includes part of the Staffordshire Moorlands District, as well as parts of Derbyshire and West and South Yorkshire.
